What a whirlwind January has been! With joining Abby & Anna and keeping up with Instagram and Facebook pasts for each company, I am truly in need of a mental vacation. But that isn't going to happen. I have a big February and March to gear up for. I have 2 huge (2&3 day) events in February and 2 Bridal shows in March.

Who said the Catholic Church had the power to...

Lately I have been sickened by what the Catholic Church says. They think they have the power to tell people that something is or is not holy and what to believe. In the recent past, they have said there is no hell, Jesus is not really coming back , and there is no Salvation unless it is through them, and many others.
It's not just the recent stuff though, they have been doing this for a very long time. They have all of these saints days and they were the ones who officially stated that celebrating Christmas was a holy day.
Who in the world gave them this power? The key word is the world. God does not give one person or group of people power over others. They have no right to say what is or is not holy, unless it comes straight from the Bible.
This is why I read the Bible for myself, to find out what God has said. There are even holidays the Jews celebrate, that are not in the Bible. They are nearly adapted traditions. If it is not a holy day listed in the Bible, then it should not be celebrated.
I urge everyone to do their own research as to how holidays have come to be. After, you will be sickened to learn that everything the average American celebrates is an abomination to God.
 I have written many other posts on unholy days and the holy days we should be following.

There is one holiday that we do still celebrate that is not grounded in pagan roots and is not in the Bible. Thanksgiving. It was established to celebrate God for the bountiful harvest he had allowed. Unfortunately, people have turned it into a commercial freak show with parades, football, and now shopping incentives, all geared on taking you away from the family you should be praising God for giving you.

Today

Today, as the Feast of Unleavened Bread comes to a close, I am saddened yet again for all of the Christians who have yet to open their eyes and understand that they are following the path of least resistance.

If you participated in and Easter egg hunt with your children, have a beautiful basket set up for them for when they wake up, so you can lie to them that a fictional rabbit came in their home and left it over night, just so they can do what all the "other children do", you are a fraud.

Jesus never said that following him would be easy. Why do we think that if main stream does it and we give it a little twist, it is perfectly fine?

Where in the Bible does it say to make a holiday and celebrate his rising? I only see where we are supposed to celebrate his death.

I also know very few that celebrate the Bible's Holy Days, as specifically directed by God to do FOR EVER!

Too many are following the teachings of Constantine, not the Bible, unfortunately. If you don't understand what I mean, I highly recommend researching what role Constantine played in creating all of these "biblical holidays" the physical churches celebrate.

I pray anyone reading this will open their hearts and read the Bible for your teachings and stop depending on the physical churches of the world to do it for you. God gave every man, woman, and child a brain, so as I tell my children daily as we read the Bible together, USE IT!

I am blessed that God has given us the tools to learn about these things through homeschooling. I learn something new from the Bible and the curriculum we use all of the time. God gives me little pieces most of the time weekly to digest and discuss with my children. We learn things I never learned, especially going to a Christian private school for 7 years of my life, because the books written and the teachers were blinded.

May God un-blind you today and help you to see the very narrow path he has before you. Jesus did very unpopular things when he was alive, shouldn't we follow in his footsteps?

Christians and drinking

Everyone seems to make up their own rules when it comes to alcohol.

From what I have read in the Bible, the only time wine is allowed, is when there is a celebration or Holy Day. Any other more alcoholic drink was to ease one's pain when dying. So, why is it that I keep hearing about Christians drinking? We do have alcohol in the house for cooking and preserving purposes, other than that, I have a small 1 ounce glass (to drink!!!) of Manischewitz for Passover and that is it. Eric does not ever drink, which I think is absolutely wonderful!

Please, if you claim to be a Christian, please stop ordering drinks from the bar or buying liquor if you are drinking it (unless you are dying...).

More Bible stuff

It is truly a blessing in finding the Facebook page Christians Against Pagan Holidays. I learn something new almost everyday. Yes, we do all still have our own opinions about certain things, but in the end, we all have the same belief systems running through our heads.

Recently the Apocrypha was brought up. I had run across it quite a few times in the past year or 2 and even felt compelled to buy the King James Version of it about a year ago, but yet, I never felt the need to read it, so there it sat until today on my dusty bookshelf. I made myself sit down and relax with my feet up and start at the beginning of the book. What I read astounded me, so I had to go to the internet to see if what I was reading was true. I went to Wikipedia and behold! There was my answer. Did you know that "All King James Bibles published before 1666 included the Apocrypha."?
I am really sad that people took upon themselves to mold and create a Bible they wanted, which is what we now call the "English Bible". I feel as if I've been lied to.

So now, if any of you would like to go on a new journey with me and start reading the Apocrypha and have discussions, I would love to hear from you. Even a comment would be greatly appreciated.

On another note. I did post a question to them, hoping that I was wrong, but alas... Birthdays are pagan. Upon more research candles on a cake originate from celebrating the moon goddess and Germans originally started the presents and decorations for birthdays. The only birthdays mentioned in the Bible ended horribly. Something to think about...

OK, one more thing. If any of you did get to read the blog I posted in my last blog, I would love to have comments on that also. The more I started researching and talking to my daughter about those verses found in that blog, and the more this is discussed on Facebook, the clearer things seem to become. Someone on Facebook also posted that the only thing Jesus told us to do to remember him was communion; not celebrate his death/ressurection, not celebrate his birth... Even today another person said that if Christmas was Christian, everyone would be against it...

Passover

If some of don't know, Passover begins at sundown tonight, which means that we are beginning a week of not eating any leaven. Leaven is yeast, baking soda, etc. Anything that makes something rise in baking or cooking.

I have spent all day baking. My children helped me and were actually fighting over who got to put the next ingredient in the various recipes next! We made UL fruit bread, UL pound cake, and UL shortbread cookies, so hopefully we are set for the week on a breakfast bread and desserts.

I cannot wait until tonight's Passover dinner. I have ground lamb with feta, garlic, salt and pepper marinating in the fridge, so I can make lamb/feta patties to put on top of parsley rice (remember no leaven in, so no burger buns!), then I have broccoli to steam, and I made the charoset this morning, which is also marinating in the fridge. For dessert, I am planning the pound cake topped with strawberries, vanilla ice cream on the side and whipped cream on top. So now you can see why I can't wait!

I am planning many casseroles for this week and also  pasta dishes. For breakfasts, there is always the normal eggs, sausage/bacon and orange juice, or I also have an UL baked oatmeal, that we actually eat periodically throughout the year. So you can see, it really isn't that hard to go without leavened products for 8 days.

Mother's Day

I know this post is a little late, but here I go...

My cousin Dustin posted this as his status today on Facebook, "In my opinion Mother's Day is like Valentine's Day, they both deserve a day of recognition. Although, I don't need a day to tell me to treat my mom or girlfriend extra special. I do that 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.".


I was quite happy that I am finding others that feel this way. Why is it that we need a reminder that once a year that we HAVE to treat our mothers to something special. If they don't get something on this day from each of their children, they feel something is wrong. I feel something is wrong if you feel obligated to buy your Mom a piece of junk or flowers just because the calendar says so. This particular day has only really been around a very short time.

Eric and I found it quite ridiculous last night, while getting a few things at Wal-Mart, that at 10pm the lines were jam packed with people who waited last minute to buy something for their mother. Flowers, cards and other misc junk were being purchased so that they could say they at least got "something for Mom".

While I didn't mind getting a few people from Facebook and my neighbors saying "Happy Mother's Day" to me today. It just made it more concrete that it is ingrained into our brains that it is just something that is supposed to be said on this day, whether heartfelt or not.

Yet another dumb holiday...

Here we are yet again, facing another made up holiday. We watch TV and it tells us that all men are supposed to wine and dine women on this "special" day.

First of all, why aren't women expected to do the same thing, if you do celebrate this day?

Second, why do you need a special day to show someone that you love them? If you truly love someone, you should be showing them daily what they mean to you, even if it's just a kiss.

I know that I am loved each and everyday. Eric has given me the biggest present of all, being able to stay home and raise our children. In return, I raise our children, keep up the house, and tell him I love him at least once a day.

In our home there doesn't have to be a day set aside just for love. We love each other everyday, and that's all we really NEED.

High expectations / no expectations... a New Years Resolution

Well, Eric and I have decided that we are no longer doing holidays, except for Thanksgiving and New Years from now on. We will also only have low key birthdays, just us in attendance, maybe grandparents too, but that's it.

Eric is tired of me making such a big deal out of "commercial holidays", and I know I do. Which is where expectations come in to play. I have very high expectations on how parties are coordinated and special meals, etc... Well, from now on I will have NO EXPECTATIONS. I am so tired of feeling like something is always missing, or expecting Eric to go out of his way to do something special for me on days such as Valentines, our anniversary, or even my birthday. I am tired of dropping hints, just to be let down every year.

I have decided to see what is really infront of me. A husband who loves me and allows me to stay home with our 2, soon to be 3, children. We get what we NEED through out the year, and get a few of our wants too when business is good.

Not having Christmas this year was freeing. I don't know why we didn't do this sooner. This is the first year that I don't have to worry about how to pay January's bills! It may even come to getting more bills paid off too! Wow, what a concept!

I am so stunned, that's mostly all I want to say. It just emphasizes it more that holidays are a big farce.

I am all for the simple life. Eric and I have started to strive for that in the past few yearss and we are so much happier. Learning to cook everything from scratch, sewing, crocheting, homeschooling, homebirth, nursing my children, only going out of the house when absolutely necessary (2x a week maximum). This life is definitely not for everyone, but for us, it is a wonderful life.

Halloween

I especially agree with her that we should not be taking our kids door to door and then also what I stated in another post about our kids getting too much candy.

Holidays

Why is it that on Christmas we spend most of our paychecks on junky toys that will be obsolete in a matter of years, tell our children that a magical man brings the presents that we ourselves bought with our hard earned money and also take the time to wrap? We also go out of our way to have our children sit on a man's lap at the mall, that we don't even know. We also decorate our houses with tons of junk that we complain every year that we "have" to put up, then we "have" to take it down! We are also not helping the environment any with all of the trees that are cut down each year, and also the tinsel and burned out lights that go straight to the landfills.

Why is it that on Easter we tell our children that a bunny lays eggs, but yet it is us that has to sneak away to hide them to create yet another illusion (lie) and also the fact that our hard earned money yet again goes to the Easter basket that is filled with so much junk food, that we then proceed to complain that our kids want so much junk food???

And why in the first place do we allow children to have so much junk food and toys in the first place?

Eric and I were talking about this in depth until almost 1:30 this morning. We think that Thanksgiving is fine, since it is a holiday to celebrate the fruits of our harvests, which we hope will be a huge harvest for our household next year. As for Easter and Christmas, we will not be celebrating. We will focus on teaching our children what they need to know about the Bible, instead of only focusing once a year on certain stories.

I know that we have been guilty of this, but a stop is being put to it right now. Family togetherness is much more important.
